Pharcide
Collection of the Week: Pharcide

It's been a few years since we last showcased Pharcide as Collection of the Week, and since then, we've added a substantial number of images bringing the total for this cornucopia of wonders to over 15,500 images, with the majority captioned and scanned in-house at Mary Evans, and the remainder carefully researched by collection owner Tony Davies to give full background and context to the pictures. This encyclopedic collection consists mainly of photographic postcards of people, places and scenes worldwide from the late 19th to mid-20th centuries, and is particularly strong on the USA, Canada, Britain and Australia.

You want to see the 1950 coffee club carriage on the Wabash Blue Bird train from St Louis to Chicago? Or what smart people were wearing for a visit to the Spanish bullring in 1910? Bondi Beach in 1908, or an ENSA concert in Aldwych underground station in wartime London? Pharcide can help.

There are also sporting heroes in the form of cigarette card football teams, cricketers and boxers, and series on actors, ships, hotels and aircraft.

Dip your toe in Pharcide's international waters here, and do get in touch either by email at [email protected] or by telephone on 020 8318 0034 if you'd like a search or a quote.
