An Edwardian 'selfie'! Edgar Battersby, illustrating the typical clothing of a man if his age and social standing. Volunteered for service in WW1, but he was turned down due to having Varicose veins. Had an operation to treat this condition and was able to join the Hon. Artillery Company in 1917. Injured at Arras on the Western Front and taken to a Field Dressing Station, which was then completely destroyed and his body was never recovered.
