The Royal Air Force to the Rescue in Afghanistan. Illustration depicting aircraft of the RAF flying over mountainous terrain on a mission to rescue six hundred people of varying nationalities during the 1928-29 revolution in Afghanistan. Eighty-three journeys were made in fifty days by Vickers-Napier "Victoria" aircraft, each carrying two pilots and 23 evacuees. No lives were lost in the operation.
