The Blitzen Benz car, built in Mannheim by Benz and Cie running a full speed. At Brooklands on November 9, 1909, at the Brooklands circuit at Weybridge, Surrey, French driver Victor Hemery set a record with an average speed of 126.0 mph over a kilometre, following 1911 by Bob Burman breaking the mile record mark (141.7 mph) at Daytona Beach, a mark which stood until 1919
