Buchenwald Concentration Camp One of the two shrunken heads of Russian POWs found in the pathology block of the camp after liberation of the camp by soldiers of the 6th Armored Division of the U.S. Third Army on April 11, 1945. The camp was described as the worst concentration camp yet to be uncovered by west wall troops. (6th Armored Division newspaper Armored Attacker'n. Liberated prisoners had killed guards already before arrival of the Americans. Germany. Date: April 15, 1945
