Painted decorative ceiling beams, with angel heads and floral decoration, 17th century, in the Guard Room, Chateau de Fontainebleau, France. The Guard Room is the first of the King's apartment and was occupied by the soldiers of the guard. The Palace of Fontainebleau is one of the largest French royal palaces and was begun in the early 16th century for Francois I. It was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1981.
