Monument aux Heros de l'Armee dn'Orient et des Terres Lointaines, designed by Gaston Castel, 1886-1971, with statues by Antoine Sartorio, 1885-1988, commemorating victims of WWI, inaugurated 1927, beside the Vallon des Auffes, originally a small fishing village with harbour and fisherman's cottages, now on the Corniche President John Fitzgerald Kennedy and part of the 7th arrondissement of the city of Marseilles, Bouches-du-Rhone, Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur, France.
