Confiscation of property in Sudetenland

Czechoslovakia, Kostany - 1947. Minister of Interior Vaclav Nosek announces confiscation of German factory Mitscherin and Son. Ethnic Germans residing for centuries in border areas of Bohemia and Moravia known as Sudetenland were forcibly expatriated to Germany. More than three million Germans were deported under so called Benes Decree. Their property, houses, farmland, farm animals and factories were confiscated by Czechoslovak government. The treatment of departing Germans could be compared to Jewish transports to death camps during the war. CTK Vintage Photo
