Timber transport - Vltava River - the last run

In the old days, dating back to 12th century before the waterway passages were closed due to the Vltava (Moldau) River dam system in 1950, timber collected in Sumava Mountains were tied together into raft and transported down the river to Prague and sometimes all the way to Hamburg. After safely delivering the cargo to Prague most of the crew walked back 100 miles or more to the place where they started. The last such log run was realized on Vltava river in 1960.
