Czechoslovakia - Gottwaldov 1950. Shoe factory worker checks in and marks her time card at Svit shoe making factory. This plant was formely owned by BATA family but was nationalized by Czechoslovak government under so called Benes Decree. Jan Antonin Bata, who helped hundreds of Czech citizens and Jews from being deported to concentration camps, was tried for treason but was exhonorated of all charges except that angered judge sentenced him in absentia. Bata emigrated to Canada where he continued his successful business. CTK Vintage Photo
