Czechoslovakia, Prague 1948. Wenceslav Square is lined with armed Peoples Militia and State Security officers carry machine guns during celebration of the first year anniversary of Communist putsch. The new government controlled the population with fear and propaganda. PM Antonin Zapotocky, Minster of Interior Vaclav Nosek and First Secretary of the Communist party Rudolf Slansky participated in this celebration. Rudolf Slansky, one of the main organizers of Communist terror, was accused of treason and was executed in 1952 along with 9 others high politicians of Jewish descend. CTK Vinatge Photo
