Edvard Benes Gustav HUSAK

Czechoslovakia - Topolcianky 1947. President Edvard Benes shakes hands with Gustav Husak during his trip to Slovakia. Gustav Husak was imprisoned and charged with treason in a show trial and seved 12 years in prison. He later became the General Secretary of the Communits Party and the President of Czechoslovakia. The infamomous normalization process during the 70ies which he inspired caused many people to lose jobs and memberships in the Communist party. After massive emigration in 1968-69 the population shrunk and Husak came up with 2000 Crowns a month per child allowance (about 100 Dollars). The baby boom that followed is known as Husaks children.
