Gottwaldov - Zlin - Svit

Czechoslovakia 1948. Moravian city Zlin was renamed Gottwladov after Communist leader Klement Gottwlad. Zlin was the Bata shoe factory capital, however, after WWII all factories were confiscated and nationlized under so called Benes Decrees. The owner Jan Antonin Bata helped hundreds of Czechs and Jews from being transported into labor camps or death camps during the war. Instead of being rewaded fol valor he was tried for treason. Bata then escaped to Canada where he successfuly continued in shoe business. CTK Vinatge Photo
