Home for Greek children
Czechoslovakia - Sumperk area 1949. Thousands of Greek children were brought here by many transports. Accompanied only by handful of Greek and Macedonian nurses they were put on trains to accepting countries to escape the civil war which resulted in rightist government. Upon arrival they were placed in processing camps and later in Homes for Greek Children. The fact that the Greeks found refuge in Czechoslovakia went well with the Communist propaganda which right away started to proclaim: We saved Greek children. CTK Vintage Photo
