Ice blocks
Czechoslovakia, Prague 1947. In times when refrigirators were scrace or non existent ice blocks were extracted from Vltava River in the late winter and delivered to restaurants and homes to protect the perishable foods. The ice blocks were insulated by layers of hay to last until fall. CTK Vintage Photo
