Jaroslav Seifert - poet - dissident

Poet, writer and Nobel Prize winner in Literature in 1984 Jaroslav Seifert is photographed in his study. Seifert, a member of Communist Party since 1920ies and in 1977 he became one of the signatories of Charter 77 a document oposing the repressive regime and calling for greater freedoms. Although J. Seifert was a prominent writer and Chairman of the Czechoslovak Writers Union, after signing the Charter 77 he became a dissident.
