Jiri Trnka (1912 -1969), animation filmmaker and gifted artist who was able to paint and construct marionettes with the use of boths hands was a pioneer of Czechoslovak animated film. His most famous animated adaptations were the Good Soldier Schweyk by Jaroslav Hasek and Midsummer Nights Dream by William Shakespeare.
