Sports gymnast Vera Caslavska and her husband Josef Odlozil, right, talks to president Ludvik Svoboda after she was awarded the Order of Republic at Prague Castle on October 21, 1968. Shortly after the Warsaw Pact invasion of her country, Caslavska defeated her Russian rivals at the 1968 summer Olympics in Mexico City and with six olympic medals became a national hero and sports gymnastics legend.
