Orlik dam - construction - conrete pouring
Gargantuan construction of Orlik dam continued without stop and under any weather condition to be completed in time. Concrete was poured in freezing temperatures so that the dam would be able to fill up during spring snow melt. Several such dams were constructed on Vltava River to prevent flooding while efficient electricity producing Francis turbines were installed. Czechoslovakia 1958. (CTK Photo Bedrich Krejci)
