Paul Robeson
American actor, singer and human rights activisit Paul Robesen, best known for his bass barytone song Ol Man River and also known for his frequent travels to Soviet Union and other Eastern European countries. His refusal to sign a document that he was not a member of the Communist party in 1950 cost him denial of his passport (in 1958 this decision was reversed by Supreme Court).
