Paul Robeson

Prague May 28th 1949. American singer, actor and human rights advocate Paul Robeson visits and sings books for facory workers in Prague. Robeson visited the Soviet Union and commented his visit : For the first time in my life I can live in full human dignity. This comment was beneficial for the USSR but was a thorn in the eye of the US. In 1950 the US Foreign Ministry took away Paul Robesons passport due to his defiance not to sign a document proclaiming that he was not a Communist. CTK Vintage Photo
