Prague - Czechoslovakia - 1963 - Good Soldier
Jiri Trnka (1912 -1969), animation filmmaker and gifted artist who was able to paint and construct marionettes with the use of boths hands was a pioneer of Czechoslovak animated film. His most famous animated adaptation was the Good Soldier Schweyk by Jaroslav Hasek and Midsummer Nights Dream by William Shakespeare. In 1968 Trnka was awarded the Hans Christian Andersen Prize for illustration.
