WWII May 9, 1945 Prague citizens welcome the Red Army. Prague was, in fact, liberated by General Vlasov and his I. Ukraninian Division, fact long denied by Communist historians. Vlasov, a renegade commander fought along Germans against the Soviet Union. After he and his soldiers went west to surrender to Allied forces, some were turned over to Soviets and alledgedly perished. The Red Army took credit for the liberation.
