Research Institute of Animal Nutrition Pohorelice

APRIL 21, 1966 - On 21 April 1966 the Research Institute of Animal Nutrition in Pohorelice in the district of Breclav was inaugurated. It is housed in seven new pavilions with an area of over 4000 m2. The buildings, stables and warehouses were constructed by Brno-based Pozemni stavby. The institute has two specialised workplaces of its own, where it verifies its experiments in practice. It cooperates closely with 17 JZD and state farms. It deals with current agricultural problems, e.g. the task of replacing the scarce animal proteins in feed mixtures with vegetable proteins, the method of treating cereal straw as a profitable feed, the possibility of processing poultry droppings as feed, drying of cuttings, the use of the contents of animal rumen for feeding purposes, etc. The hygiene of these feeds is monitored by two veterinarians at the Institute. The Research Institute of Animal Nutrition in Pohorelice also cooperates with other Czechoslovak institutes and with scientific institutes in the countries of the Council for Mutual Economic Assistance (Comecon). -nearly undescribed - (CTK Photo/Emil Bican)
