State farm Miroslav, hen farm, hens, cages
JULY 22, 1971 - At the Miroslav State Farm in the Znojmo district, in 1970, they laid 236 eggs per hen, while the total cost of producing one egg was 48 cents and the realisation price was 1.03 CZK. The development of the breeding farm is systematic. They have introduced a new method of cauterising (cutting off) the beaks of laying hens, which they learned in Hungary and which allows feeding with a cheaper bulk mixture. In the picture, the head of the breeding farm, M. Hosek, is checking the supply of feed to a hopper in one of the 10 000 hen houses. (CTK Photo/Emil Bican)
