After the Communist government fell in Czechoslovakias Velvet Revolution, Czech-born Canadian industrialist Tomas Bata Jr. made a triumphant return to his homeland in December 1989. He was greeted warmly in the main square in Zlin by thousands of people cheering him and he immediately initiated plans for the return of the company to the place where it all started.
