Auschwitz concentration camp
A prisoner transport from Hungary arrives at Auschwitz concentration camp in spring 1945. In Auschwitz near Krakow, Poland, a concentration camp was built by the SS in 1940, which was extended to an extermination camp in 1941, especially for Jewish people. In the background of the picture, the crematory chimneys can be seen. The bodies of the murdered prisoners were burned there. At least 1.1 million people died in Auschwitz
