Bell for Helgoland

The donated bell, weighing fourty centner, is exhibited in Hamburg on its way to Helgoland. An inscription in the dialect of Helgoland is carved into the bell saying Wer drenn ip Lunn (Back in the country'). Picture from August 1952. A British air raid destroyed the village of Helgoland completely on the 18th of April in 1945. After World War II the population was expelled from the island, while Britain occupied the island for seven years and destroyed it by blastings.
