Boer War - German Volunteers

German officers who volunteered to fight for the Boers. Great Britain felt constricted in their plans to expand their colonial empire from the Cape to Cairo, because of the strict aliens acts as well as the denial of full civil rights for British and other foreigners in the Boer republics of Orange Free State and South African republic. This conflict resulted in the Second Boer War that started in 1899, and the British occupied the Boer republics in 1900. During the following guerilla war Great Britain sent the wives and children of the guerillas into concentration camps, in order to break the guerillas wills. The Boer War endet on may 31st 1902 with the capitulation of the Boer republics, which then became British colonies
