The Command Ulrike Meinhof of the RAF claimed its responsibility of the attack on Federal Public Prosecutor Buback and his driver in letters to news agencies and magazines. RAF terrorists Knut Folkerts (1980), as well as Brigitte Mohnhaupt and Christian Klar (both 1985) were sentenced to lifelong prisonment
