Charles Gates Dawes

American lawyer and banker Charles Gates Dawes (r), brigadier general in World War I, on a contemporary picture (man on the left is not identified). He was chairman of the international expert commission which set up the so-called Dawes Plan at London Conference in 1924. The Dawes Plan regulated the reparation payment of the German Reich, was accepted on the 16th of August in 1924 by Germany and replaced by the Young Plan after its failure. Charles Gates Dawes and Sir Austen Chamberlain received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1925. He was born on the 27th of August in 1865 in Marietta (Ohio) and died in Evanston (Illionis) on the 23rd of April in 1951
