Driveway blocked by the British at House of Broadcasting in

A British military police man stands next to a trailer which is secured by a chain and blocks a driveway to the House of Broadcasting in Berlin-Charlottenburg on the 19th of November in 1953. A Soviet soldiers stands behind the gate. There were constant disputes and little incidents at the side entrance, which was used by the Soviet guards as point of relief and was secured by the British with a trailer. Although it was located in the British sector of Berlin, the House of Broadcasting was used by the Broadcast of Berlin and controlled by the Soviets after World War II until 1952. After a temporary blocking by the British Army, the building was given to the Senate of Berlin only in July 1956, who handed it over to the broadcaster Freies Berlin ('Free Berlin') after extensive renovation works
