Federal Public Prosecutor Buback killed in attack
Crime scene with the covered corpses of Siegfried Buback (front left) and his driver Wolfgang Gobel, as well as the official car, in which both were shot. The highest prosecutor of the Federal Republic of Germany was killed by the shots of a machine gun, fired from a motorcycle, on the 7th of April in 1977. His driver Wolfgang Gobel died as well, the severely injured judicial officer Georg Wurster died of his injuries on the 13th of April. The Command Ulrike Meinhof of the RAF claimed its responsibility with a letter, which was sent to news agencies. RAF terrorists Knut Folkerts (1980), as well as Brigitte Mohnhaupt and Christian Klar (both 1985) were sentenced to lifelong prisonment
