Heligoland set free again

With flame cutters room is made for moorings and huts so that ships can moor in the harbour of Heligoland. On 1 March 1952, Heligoland was given back from the British government to Germany after having become a forbidden, dead zone and bomb training area of the British air force after a bombardment during the Second World War and an enormous explosion. Already one day after the ceremonial takeover, the first clearance works and preparations for the reconstruction started. The reconstruction will take some years because of the total destruction
