The flowers with which the people of Heligoland are dressed up are a visible sign of their joy; in the background the flag of Heligoland is fluttering. Because on 1 March 1952, the island Heligoland was given back from the British government to Germany after having become a forbidden, dead zone and bomb training area of the British air force after a bombardment during the Second World War and an enormous explosion
