Henning von Holtzendorff
Admiral Henning von Holtzendorff in a contemporary picture. As member of the Prussian navy (from 1869 on) he gathered experience amongst others in Cameroon and East Asia. He became chief of the deep sea fleet in 1910 and took over the naval staff in the headquarters in 1915. He was appointed Grand Admiral shortly before leaving the navy in 1918. Henning von Holtzendorff was born on the 9th of January in 1853 in Prenzlau and died on the 7th of June in 1919 in Jagow (Uckermark)
