On the occasion of head of the GDR Erich Honecker's reception, Cuban president Fidel Castro kisses a little girl in a pioneer uniform on the cheek at the airport of Santiago de Cuba on the 20th of February in 1974. The convergence of Cuba and Moscow resulted in a closer contact to the GDR as well, which became Cuba's second most important economic partner in the 1980s.
