Head of the GDR Erich Honecker, Cuban president Fidel Castro and other members of the government visit a sugar factory in Cienfuegos on the 23rd of February in 1974. The convergence of Cuba and Moscow resulted in a closer contact to the GDR as well, which became Cuba's second most important economic partner in the 1980s.
