Manoeuvres in Parks Range in Berlin-Lichterfelde
Currently, US manouvres for the defence of West Berlin are carried out on a until now secret training area in West Berlin only a few hundred meters from the zonal boundary away. On the cordoned off area Parks Range in Lichterfelde, a fake city was built up hidden behind sand ramparts, where now American units with tanks, troop carriers and infantrymen test the possibility of defence of West Berlin. The picture shows infantrymen going on ahead protected by M 40 Patterson tanks in the manoeuvre city of Berlin-Lichterfelde on 27 December 1961
