A mobile radar installation of the US army observes the approach of the helicopters, which can be seen in the background, during the big winter manoeuvre Free Play of the US army on the military training area Grafenwohr on 5 February 1959. The highlight of the manoeuvre, in which around 60.000 soldiers participate, was the simulation of a nuclear attack, which was observed from the Feldherrenhugel by around 40 NATO generals
