Olympic Games 1972: coffins of the victims of the terrorist

The remains of the victims of the Arabian terrorist attack from 5 September 1972 on the Israeli Olympic team are laid out in the Munich synagog. An Israeli flag covers each of the coffins. Arabian terrorists of the group Black September had attacked the Israeli accommodation in the Olympic village, killed two Israelis and took nine hostages in the morning of 5th September. Their ultimatum: release of 200 imprisoned Palestinians and free passage with the other hostages. In the night of 6th September, the rescue operation at the military airport Furstenfeldbruck fails. All nine hostages, five terrorists, and a Munich police officer lose their lives during the operation
