Olympic Games 1972: destroyed helicopter
The wreck of a helicopter of the Federal Border Police is standing at the military airport Furstenfeldbruck on 6 September 1972. In this helicopter, nine members of the Israeli Olympic team of the Munich Summer Games died in the night of 6th September 1972. They were taken hostage by Arabian terrorists of the group Black September on 5 September 1972 during an attack on their accommodation in the Olympic village, where two Israelis were killed. During the failed rescue operation, a Munich police officer and five terrorists also lost their lives
