Philipp Scheidemann
A contemporary picture of SPD politician Philipp Scheidemann. He was member of the national assembly from 1903-1933. He proclaimed the German republic on the 9th of November in 1918 without Friedrich Ebert's knowledge to prevent the proclamation of the Socialist Republic by Karl Liebknecht. He fled in emigration in 1933. He was born on the 26th of July in 1865 in Kassel and died on the 29th of November in 1939 in Kopenhagen
