Women are jostling in front of the shopping windows of the Kaufhaus des Westens (KaDeWe, mall of the west), on Tauentzienstrasse in West Berlin, pictured in 1950. The first two floors of the building, which was seriously damaged during the Second World War, were reconstructed in 1950. The mall was reopened in July 1950
