Last Russian terrain in Berlin handed over

Federal minister of finance Theo Waigel (r) receives a symbolic key from Russian Supreme Commander Matvej Burlakov (l), which symbolises the handing over of the last Russian terrain in Berlin on the 25th of August in 1994. By handing over the area in Berlin-Karlshorst, the Russian troop withdrawal is almost finished. Like Russia did, the governments of the western Allies withdrew all their troops from Berlin at the end of 1994 after 49 years
