Residents, amongst them small children, of the affected and flooded areas are rescued by helpers and fellow citizens on 17th of February in 1962. In the night from the 16th to the 17th of February in 1962, a huge storm tide hit the Northern German coast. All in all, 300 people died in the storm tide, several thousand people became homeless. Especially Wilhelmsburg, a part of Hamburg, was affected
