The U.S. deserter Ray Roy Jones and his wife on trial
The U.S. soldier Ray Roy Jones (right) and his German wife Gabriele (left) before the beginning of the trial against Jones taking place in a military court of the U.S. army in Nuremberg on the 3 April 1968. Jones had left his unit on the 12 January 1967 and had applied for asylum in Sweden with his wife and his three-month-old son. On the 12 March 1968, he turned himself in to the U.S. authority in Germany, who accuses him now for unauthorized removal from the unit
