This Nazi propaganda image gives a view of the coastal highway Via Balbia through the Marble Arch Arco dei Fileni (the Gate of the Desert') in Italian Libya, published 23 September 1940. The triumph arch was built by the Italian colonialists, opened in 1937, and was demolished by the revolutionary troops of Muammar Gaddafi in 1970
