This Nazi propaganda image depicts German tanks driving along the coastal highway Via Balbia through the Marble Arch Arco dei Fileni (the Gate of the Desert') in Italian Libya, published 1 April 1941. The triumph arch was built by the Italian colonialists, opened in 1937, and was demolished by the revolutionary troops of Muammar Gaddafi in 1970
