This Nazi propaganda image depicts the equipment of a bomber pilot of the German Wehrmacht in case of an emergency landing in Africa, published on 5 February 1943. Place unknown. The text on the back of the image reads: What does a German bomber pilot takes with him on long distances flights over Africa? The German soldier is given huge tasks. But he also has the best weapons and the best equipment. Every machine, which starts for a long distance flight over the desert, takes with it these desert emergency bags, which contain in detail: rubber matress, lined sleeping bag, mosquito net, mug, canister with emergency provisions for a week, gas bottle, cutlery, bush knife, ammunition for hunting (and a hunting weapon in the machine to be able to feed of gazelles and other wild animals for some time after an emergency landing in the desert), sunglasses, tent sheet, water bottles, portable stove, body care products, tent poles and first aid kit
